Thirsty?

2 Dec 2009I read something really thought provoking on Seth Godin’s blog today and I thought it necessary to reblog it.

I’ve noticed that people who read a lot of blogs and a lot of books also tend to be intellectually curious, thirsty for knowledge, quicker to adopt new ideas and more likely to do important work.
I wonder which comes first, the curiosity or the success?

Seth Godin is a marketing god!
My problem though is that I spend too much time reading blogs about marketing, current affairs and programming and not enough time actually coding :
Fast internet is like crack.

I think curiosity is a great attribute of the trailblazer of this generation. If curiosity means a longing to know more and improve. You have to be a step ahead of your competitor by using the powerful tool of curiosity. Like Alvin Toffler said, "the secret of success in the emerging market is the ability to learn and unlearn"
You need to know that through curiosity you acquire information but you have to sit down and act on this information to produce tangible result otherwise it is of no use.

i think curiousity comes first. those who have left footprints in the sands of time started by questioning the prevalent conditions – how do things work and why do they work. Only after that did they start to find out what can work better. success without curiousity has more in it than meets the eye
